The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver


I just finished reading this book for our October book club. It was really good but I don't think it's one of those that I will read more than once. I really like a book to grip me. It doesn't have to be a suspense to do that. It just needs to grab my heart in the right way. This was an entertaining book - but it didn't do that for me. I didn't cry or laugh out loud. I wasn't sad when the book was over. I really did like it though and I'd say that it isn't a waste of time to read it. I have a friend who says that this is one of her two favorite books so I guess it just depends on what you like! I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. Read it and judge for yourself!
