One more down! This was a really interesting book. It is about a retired (grumpy) judge in India who lives with his granddaughter, Sai, and his cook. I always enjoy reading something that gives me a new perspective on things. It was interesting to see how much people from other countries want to come to AMERICA. It's amazing the things they do to get visas to leave in the first place and then it's sad when the reality sets in that things are not going to be as wonderful as they thought. The cook's son, Biju, managed to get to the U.S. and his experience isn't at all what he'd imagined. Meanwhile, in India, the Nepali's are rebelling because they aren't being treated equally. This causes a lot of discord and eventually violence erupts. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book. I didn't get as much closure as I would have liked and there was a lot of language in some areas, but she has a great writing style and it was neat to learn some Indian culture. I don't think I knew ANYTHING about it! I didn't even realize it was so close to China! Anyway - read it before you buy it.
